Dune 3: Messiah update excites fans as the director Denis Villeneuve shares some very promising news about the movie. Hans Zimmer, the music composer also hinted at something similar in an interview.
“Dune: Part Two”, the sequel to Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi masterpiece “Dune”, has been running in cinemas for a few weeks now, delighting fans around the world. It’s well on the way to becoming a financial success. The director confirms interest in the space saga even more in his intention to turn the series into a trilogy. Dune 3: Messiah will continue telling the story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) on the big screen.
The director Denis Villeneuve explained in an interview that he is already working on the script for “Dune 3” and wants to make the film after he has taken a break. According to him, he wanted to finish Dune 2 aas fast as possible and then take a break for Dune 3 as he wants Timothee Chalamet to get a little older before taking on that role. Officially, he hasn’t gotten the green light from Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures for the third part yet, but the signs are more than good on various levels. Because the composer Hans Zimmer also spoke up and gave a promising update.
Hans Zimmer is already writing music for “Dune 3”
Hans Zimmer composed the music for “Dune” and “Dune 2” and even won an Oscar for his soundtrack for the first part. The powerful sounds are definitely among the best elements of the sci-fi saga. It’s a score that makes the cinema shake like never before.
Zimmer spoke to Variety about “Dune: Messiah.” When asked if he was already writing music for it, the exceptional artist replied: “Of course. On the second day of shooting, Denis [Villeneuve] came up to me and wordlessly put ‘Dune Messiah’ on my table, and I know where it’s going and I know we’re not done yet.”
After completing the first “Dune” film, Hans Zimmer went through a similar process. Although he was told by Denis Villeneuve to wait with compositions for part two until it was officially given the green light, the musician could not stop writing new pieces for the sci-fi saga. The fact that Hans Zimmer is showing a similar optimism can give fans hope that Dune 3 will happen.
While Denis Villeneuve and Hans Zimmer are confident, the box office results also speak for themselves. By last weekend, the blockbuster had already grossed over 373 million US dollars. It was even able to outshine its predecessor after the same running time. It is also predicted to bag huge success in the 2025 next Oscars like Oppenheimer did in the 2024 Oscars. If “Dune 2” continues like this, the big question may soon no longer be “if”, but “when”. So unless something majorly bad happens, we can say that Dune 3 will definitely be made.
