Disgusting aliens that bring back memories of “The Last Of Us” and lots of action. The trailer for the manga adaptation “Parasyte The Grey” promises a wild mix of genres. The series starts on April 5, 2024 on the streaming giant Netflix.
When director Sang-Ho Yeon is involved in a project, genre fans sit up and take notice, because with “Train To Busan” the filmmaker has directed one of the best zombie shockers of recent years. Since then, the South Korean has produced materials for Netflix in particular and has proven to be a reliable source for mostly high-quality and, above all, interesting work. After “Telekinesis”, “Hellbound” and “Jung_E: Memory of War”, the new series “ Parasyte: The Grey ” will start on April 5, 2024 on the streaming giant.
A long trailer has now been released for the manga spin-off. The series promises an extremely wild mix of science fiction and body horror, peppered with plenty of action . The alien parasites that have made themselves comfortable in the heads of people are also shown here in all their disgusting glory. This brings back memories of the HBO hit series “ The Last Of Us ”.
And that’s what “Parasyte: The Grey” is all about
“Parasyte: The Grey” continues the world from the well-known horror manga “Parasyte” by Hitoshi Iwaaki . This is about Izumi Shinichi, a 17-year-old student who is attacked by an alien parasite. But “Migi”, as the interstellar foreign body is called, does not manage to penetrate completely into the brain and completely take over its host. Only the high school student’s hand is under the control of the strange intruder. From now on, the involuntary duo has to come to terms with their partnership. But Migi’s much more aggressive relatives want to take over people all over the city and kill the duo.
However, the Netflix series is not a live-action adaptation of “Parasyte”. Tthe focus here is on Su-Mi ( Jeon So-Nee ) instead of Shinichi. She, similar to Izumi Shinichi in the manga, has entered into a symbiosis with the parasite. The trailer already shows clearly that together they form an extremely powerful team. She receives support from Kang-Woo ( Kyo-Hwan ), who is trying to locate his sister in the current chaos. The team is completed by Jun-Kyung ( Lee Jung-Hyun ), the leader of an anti-parasite unit.
