Teen Titans movie is coming to the new DCU before Justice League

Teen Titans movie

A brand new Teen Titans movie has been announced! Dive into James Gunn’s fresh take on the DC Universe with the beloved superhero team’s cinematic debut. The team has a dynamic blend of youth, action, and heroism. James Gunn has been given the job of structuring the new DC universe in his hands. Starting with his “Superman” film starring David Corenswet, the new DCU is predicted to go a long wayas the first superhero team has also been confirmed for the DCU.

James Gunn’s new “Superman” film marks the start of the DC Universe in cinemas, and Batman is also to get a solo appearance with “The Brave And The Bold”. But bringing them together in a new “Justice League” movie is not planned for the time being – instead, another supergroup has now been greenlit for a live-action film led by James Gunn: the “Teen Titans”.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, a “Teen Titans” live-action film is in the works after the young superheroes have appeared in animated form, for example in “Teen Titans Go!”. Now they are making their debut in the brand-new DCU of James Gunn and Peter Safran, who as the new DC Studios bosses will draw a line under the old DCEU with, for example, Henry Cavill as Superman, and build a new universe consisting of films and series.

“Teen Titans”: Screenwriter has already been decided

It’s already known who will be writing the screenplay for “Teen Titans”. Ana Nogueira will take over the post. This seems to make her a permanent fixture in the DCU, as she is already writing the script for the new Supergirl adventure “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” with “House Of The Dragon” star Milly Alcock in the title role. However, a director for “Teen Titans” is not on board, and there is no information yet about a possible production and theatrical release.

The “Teen Titans” made their comic book debut in the mid-1960s and, as the title suggests, were intended to appeal to a more youthful readership. The team, which initially consisted of former sidekicks of established heroes, included Kid Flash, Aqualad, Robin, and Wonder Girl. Later, characters such as Speedy, Beast Boy and Aquagirl were added, as well as completely new character creations such as Starfire, Cyborg and Raven.

The new DCU: movies and series

It remains to be seen exactly which characters will be part of the troupe in Gunn and Safran’s “Teen Titans”. By the way, there will also be some team adventures in the new DCU on the small screen: So far, series are planned for “Lanterns” about at least two of the Green Lanterns and the animated production “Creature Commandos”.

DC Master Plan Finally Revealed: New Superman, New Batman and Much, Much More!

Strictly speaking, a team movie has already been announced for the cinema, even if it is still completely without much details: “The Authority” is not one of the classic supergroups in the DC comic universe and since they are also unscrupulous and brutal in contrast to the “Teen Titans”, they are more likely to be counted among the antiheroes.

First of all, however, “Superman” is coming to the cinema, which is no longer called “Superman: Legacy”, but now operates under the simplest of all possible titles. David Corenswet plays Clark Kent a.k.a. Superman, Rachel Brosnahan is in the cast as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult embodies Lex Luthor. The theatrical release date of “Superman” is July 10, 2025. Fans are rooting for a fresh new start of the beloved DC universe.
